I think there's a problem with calendar sync on EWS. Category colors are not syncing properly and when event times are updated in Outlook on the desktop, the change is not correctly reflected in the Android calendar (stock, calendar +,  digical). Sometimes it's correctly synced and sometimes not. I just began to notice it on this release.

When I sync with activesync (a different email client) the updated calendar times sync correctly, but are incorrect with AM on EWS. When I show the activesync and EWS events side by side on the same calendar, activesync has it correct but EWS does not.

Thanks

Can you clarify the "correct vs. incorrect" and "not properly"?

Correct and not properly mean that the event maintains the original time of the event and will not update to the new time that's changed in Outlook desktop. Also, when I change or create the category color in Outlook desktop for the event, it does not show it in the event in Android through the EWS account. This has become hit or miss. Sometimes the category color changes and sometimes not.

Speaking of categories, I just tried:

- Sending an invite from Google Calendar (web) to Office 365 (web), assigning a category in Office 365 (web), then checking mail in AquaMail

- Creating a new event in Office 365 (web) with a category, refreshing the calendar in Android (handled by AquaMail)

- Clearing categories on the second event, assigning a new one, refreshing the calendar in Android (handled by AquaMail)

- Updating the invite (first event) in Google Calendar (web) with a new "start time" and "duration", causing an automatic "event updated" message to go to Office 365 (web), then refreshing the calendar in Android (handled by AquaMail)

The category (color label) and the times were propagated through just fine, from Office 365 by AquaMail into Calendar on the Android device.

My time zone is Moscow, Russia (+0300), so the code had to handle a "non-UTC" time zone conversion too.

So yeah, it's a "works for me", would need a clarification.

Re: will not update

Can you try Refresh in your Calendar app to see if that does anything (catches up to the changes)?

I tried refreshing the calendar, but that doesn't help. I'm not using Office 365, but Outlook 2013 if that makes a difference. I also tried to do this on Outlook Web Access and while the updates to the time are working, the categories are not applying on Android when first created on Outlook desktop, or changing when changed on my desktop Outlook.

OK, so it's not Office 365 but it's Exchange.

And you're creating new events in Outlook 2013 for Windows. I'll try Outlook 2016 which is what I've got, just need a little time to reboot.

Oh, and "categories are not applying" -- there is no color at all? "Or changing" -- remaining at no color?

No color. The event remains with the default calendar color.

Just tried:

- Created an event (appointment) in Outlook 2016, with a category

- Waited for it to sync to Office 365 for web (a few seconds)

- Checked mail in AquaMail, this also triggered a Calendar sync -> the event showed up, with the assigned color.

- Edited in Outlook 2016, cleared color and set a new one. Refreshed in Android Calendar -> the color updated.

- Edited again in Outlook 2016, updated title and time. Refreshed in Android Calendar -> the title and time updated.

Did you mail provider "upgrade" their servers, perhaps? Do you happen to know?

I don't know about any upgrades. I just created an event in Outlook with a category. It shows up on my Android calendar without the color category. I open the Android event, edit the text and save, and the category in Outlook disappears.

Re: I don't know about any upgrades.

But something must have changed.

I know you're sure it's this AquaMail app, but "it takes two to tango".

Re: I just created an event in Outlook with a category. It shows up on my Android calendar without the color category....

I did the same, in Outlook for Windows, and an Exchange account.

And the color did show just fine.

The only way to try and unravel this mystery is for you to make a debug log.

And here is something else I'd try first, perhaps you could:

- Long press the account -> Options and folders -> Exchange options

- Turn off Sync calendar

- Wait a bit, turn it on again

This will delete all cached calendar data from the device and reload from the server.

I'll try your suggestions and then send a debug log if the problem persists.

I do understand that it may not be AM, and I will also check with my Network Admins. I work for a very large organization with more than 100,00 employees, so the network people are not very responsive to individual inquiries. You provide much better customer service. :)

This step worked! All is well in the EWS and AM world again. Many thanks for taking the time to walk me through these troubleshooting steps.
