Notification - extremely minor issue
« on: August 21, 2015, 05:06:29 pm »
This issue is so minor, it's probably not worth fixing, but I thought I'd mention it anyway :)

This issue arises when Settings->Message notifications->When the app is active is checked as well as Enable notifications is checked.

In the case when AM is not active, you get some emails and get a notification.  When you make AM active, the notification goes away.

In the case when AM is active, you get some emails and thus a notification.  If you tap on an email to open it, the notification goes away; this is correct.
If, when AM is active, you get some emails and thus a notification and you do anything other that open an email, for example, swipe to delete, or select all then delete, the notification remains; it is not cleared.

See?  I told you it was minor.

AM 1.5.9.10
unrooted Verizon Note 3 running Android 5.0

Can you clarify -- you're deleting or marking as read some of the messages that the notification is/was "about"?

So the notification should at least be updated?

Something I can look into and most likely fix, but please help me understand.

I'm deleting message(s)... IMO, should clear the notification, just as opening a message clears the notification.  I haven't tried mark as read or hide, but I think both of those should also clear the notification.

If not clear, you know where to find me :)

"I'm deleting message(s)..."

Deleting one of the unread messages that the notification is "about"?

One of the messages which caused the notification?

Correct.  I always leave AM with an empty inbox...so when I get a notification, it is for "new" messages.  Though I haven't tried Mark as Read or Hide, deleting any of the messages either by swiping, or selecting and using the menu to delete, doesn't clear the notifications, only opening the message does.

I've seen something similar once or twice:
While in Aquamail, in the particular account, in the message-view list, I saw a notification for a new message appearing (My notifications setting is for "new unread" messages). Deleting or moving the message to spam didn't clear the notification. (I don't remember if that action was done for a single message, or for a few selected messages, including the newest one, mentioned in the notification.)

StR - do you have "notifications while the app is interactive" enabled too?

@jimfbk - fixed in last night's build

Notification - extremely minor issue
« Reply #8 on: October 17, 2015, 12:11:03 am »
Apologies if answered, can't seem to find.

How do I get the Mail Notification to Stay On Until I read the Messages (like Apple).
If I don't get to my mail in a timely manor, I loose mail notifications, both in the Finder Window and on the App Icon.

Also how do I set it to mark email as read when I read the email message without changing it to a particular time.

Thank You
R

Oops, sorry, Kostya, somehow I missed this question 2 months ago.
Answer: yes, it is enabled.  I thought it was some type of a rare race condition.

And I only saw that behavior once or twice, and haven't seen it in the past 2 months for sure.

On my phone (Android 4.1.2), the notifications do not go away, unless I either dismiss the notification, or press on it, which brings me to the e-mail app.
Also, I have it set (under notifications), so that notifications for each account are separate. This provide that reading new e-mails for one account doesn't clear notifications for the rest.

So, if you have notifications going by themselves, without any action from your side, - that might be a function of the system, not the e-mail app. And I don't know what you mean by "Finder Window". Do you have some special launcher? Could it be that the launcher affects the notifications?

Well... one more thought: what e-mail account are you using? There were recent threads about problems with one of the provider (GoDaddy?) - where the bug of the mailserver was/is resulting in erroneous and sporadic counts of the new e-mail messages. That can clear your the indicator of the number of new messages on the Aquamail widget, if you are using one (Did you call that "App Icon"?)

When the message is marked read, no time is changed in the message.

Hello;
All in the AQUA Mail Pro App.

1) Android Lollipop has the Notification Screen when you wake the phone, but the Notification for MAIL, in AQUA Mail Disappears after two minutes.
No Notifications after say about Two Minutes...  {Image 1 & Image 2 (Notification Gone) } So if say I'm driving or in a meeting, I can't get to my email and I forget to check when I get out of a meeting, it still should show the # of emails received, No Yes?

2) Android Lollipop I have the Samsung Box Checked that says to show # of Emails received, but again if you don't answer your email within 2 minutes, the #'s Notification disappears of the App ICON.
Image #3 & #4

3) Android Lollipop, even with the Do Not Mark Mail Read Automatically in Aqua Mail, Aqua Mail still marks itself as read after about 2 minutes.

Notification Screen and # of Emails Received showing on the APP ICON Should stay on until you read your email.... ?

I'm guessing something (some other mail app) is causing your messages to get marked as read on the server.

A pretty common cause of this is when another mail app is configured using POP3 -- most mail servers / services will mark as read any messages downloaded via POP3. And then since IMAP has read/unread state sync, this change gets synced into AquaMail.

No more unread messages -- no notifications.

Solution: do not use POP3 in any mail app when you've got more than one of them.

Could you solve your issue (notification for new mail disappears 'automatically' within 2 minutes) in the meantime?
