Outlook/Hotmail Auth issue

Hello. I use Aquamail (v1.57.1-604) on my Android phone. I changed my password on live.com, and when I try to validate the account again in the app, I always get the same error (OAuth2). In the account settings app (Hotmail), it opens Firefox (or Chrome), live.com asks for my fingerprint, returns to the app, repeats the process of opening the browser, asking for my fingerprint, and finally the app gives an OAuth2 error ("response something strange"). live.com works perfectly in the browser, and this happens with both Firefox and Chrome. I deleted the @hotmail account in the app, recreated it (as a regular email by entering the email and password), and I also tried creating it with the Hotmail account option, and the same thing happens; it fails validation. The browser on live.com sometimes displays the message "AADSTS900561: The endpoint only accepts POST requests. Received a GET request." Any suggestions? Thanks

I have exactly the same issue.
I think the app needs an update.

Hello,

After investigating, this appears to be an issue on Microsoft’s side that started yesterday and is still not fully resolved. It is currently affecting many users and different mail clients, not just Aqua Mail.

The repeated authentication loop you are seeing is consistent with this Microsoft sign-in problem. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can fix from the Aqua Mail side at the moment.

For now, the best option is to wait and try again later while we continue to monitor the situation. We also recommend keeping an eye on Microsoft’s service status, as the login flow should start working normally again once they resolve the issue on their side.

K9 works.ok with hotmail

The problem seems to be with Aquamail

Yeah, seems to be an aquamail issue. No problems with other mailing apps & Windows live mail accounts. It makes aquamail useless for me atm.

Exactly, no problem with thunderbird Windows or Android and from my phone The login (OAUTH2) server returned something strange... I even recreated my passkey for Microsoft with Bitwarden no issue to log in to Microsoft itself but not working with Aqua mail!

I should ad to log in to Microsoft from another device with no passkey the authenticator kept asking for another code so the issue might be both from Microsoft and subsequently AquaMail.

I've come to say that I have the same problem that I noticed a few days ago.   I had no problems hotmail with Evolution

Last Friday, we rolled out an update aimed at improving support for Microsoft accounts in Aqua Mail. The update is now live for all users enrolled in the beta program. If you’d like to test it, please join the beta on Google Play and install the latest beta version of the app.

At the moment, this update does not yet fix the issue for newly created Microsoft accounts (before the Microsoft changes few months ago), such as new Hotmail or Outlook.com addresses. We understand this is important, and we’re continuing to work on full support for those accounts in a future update.

P.S. If you decide to join the beta, we’d appreciate it if you could let us know whether the issue is resolved on your side.

Are you using an old Outlook/Hotmail account or a new one created after 2026?

These are all older accounts - created approx October 2003, February 2004, April 2014 and April 2014.

My other (non-HoTMaiL/Outlook) email accounts are working normally.

Finally resolved with the beta just the unlocker complaining it was done for an older Android version, but it is working.
