instant delete possible?

I notice that when I delete emails from inbox,
they aren't deleted instantly
(I think they are deleted on the next run),
do I need push turned on for that?
Because I don't have push turned on,
is that the cause?

The default "method" is "move to deleted".

This is set per-account, please see the FAQ it's near the top.

There are three delete "methods" total.

All of them process deletions "instantly" however, your messages should "disappear" right away (moved into deleted / hidden / deleted from server).

Push is not needed either.

What exactly are you seeing happen? Need more info.

in my experience the deletion (move to deleted is what I use) doesn't happen right away,
as I told you in the past I've got thunderbird open at the same time (sometimes) and
when I've selected messages to delete from within aquamail, they aren't gone instantly,

same thing has happened when I was having the gmail web interface open in the browser,
and since I'm crazy with tidiness, what I do is another refresh (on my inbox) after I delete emails,
because I want them gone!

Oh so you meant "not deleted instantly in Thunderbird" - not "in Aqua Mail"?

Aqua Mail has undo.

When you delete - nothing happens to messages on the mail server until undo is committed.

Ever notice a panel that floats up from below - saying "N messages moved to deleted" with an "arrow" icon?

no I meant not deleted instantly in Aqua Mail,
because I see them in tb/web browser (gmail)

I haven't noticed "n messages moved to deleted",
"enable undo" is enabled, while
"confirm when deleting" is not,
maybe I should disable the former?

edit: ok, I disabled undo, I hope deletions are now faster

Aqua Mail has Undo.

When you delete or move a message - you'll see a "bar" (panel / button) that gives you time to undo the action.

Actions "commit" after a few seconds or based on some of your actions (e.g. switching between views, using the menu...)

Changes are not sent to server until "commit" time.
