« on: March 17, 2018, 03:20:08 pm »
Hi team,
I am a new user (and buyer) of this great app!!!
I have a question: I manage 4 differents email accounts with the app and I want that some folders to be always up to date with the contain such as "Sent", "Trash" and some subfolders. For that, do I have to active "push mail" or not?
I ask you that because I activated a lot of "push mail" and very ofter I have a notification saying "Too many IMAP push connection"...
Thank you for your help!
Cheer,

You need to activate "Push mail" only for folders with "new incoming messages: e.g. INBOX, or a specific folder, which will receive also new messages because of a rule you have had set server-side (at your webmail server)

You don't need to set" Push mail" for SENT, TRASH, or any other subfolder.

Understood, but it means if I want to see the content of a folder and/or subfolder (like Sent, Trash or any other I created), I have to do it manually, right, no automatic synchronisation of folders and subfolders ?

No, you don't need to synchronize these other folders manually. The app provides a "schedule sync" which will automatically update any changes that occurred on server side (delete, move to another folder, reply, star/unstar, read/unread, etc.) available on device (client) side, and also the other way around

Scheduled sync is a scheduled process (event based and/or time based).

To summarize:

Scheduled sync is scheduled sync for all folders.

Push is an additionally thing for selected folders. Push means that there is a permanent connection to the server, so the server can push the new mail immediately to you. And you will get a notification about this new message.

Example:
If your inbox folder is enabled for push, then every new message will arrive immediately and independently from scheduled sync.
However, scheduled sync will also work for the inbox folder, though. To 'catch' any change (e.g. read, star, delete,...) that occurred on server side.

That's very clear, thank you for taking the time to explain the difference!!! :) :)
"Scheduled sync is scheduled sync for all folders." => How often? Is it possible to change the frequency?

Yes, you can set the frequency in the settings (however, the default setting is "every 15 minutes" and is reasonable and very sufficient for most use cases):

Settings > Mail, receiving > scroll down to the section 'Scheduled sync' > Mail check intervall
