need help with sync

Hello.
I've just installed this app and I need help.
I have an hotmail.com account and what I'd like to do is:

- keeping automatic sync off
- every 3 hours starting at 8:30 I want Tasker/Macrodroid to force sync.

I've tried:
- AquaMail Settings/Mail, receiving/System settings = Sync even when "Auto-Sync" is off
- AquaMail Settings/Mail, receiving/Scheduled sync = No
- AquaMail Settings/Mail, receiving/Mail check interval = 3 hours
- AquaMail Settings/Mail, receiving/Time reference point = 8:30 am
- AquaMail Settings/Mail, receiving/Push mail = No

but if I go to Settings/Account at 11:40 am I see it synced correctly at 11:30 am, but I haven't received any new e-mails.
If I open the app and sync from there I get new messages.

I've tried also

How should I set AquaMail?

Do you actually trigger mail checks from Tasker?

I do.
If I go to Settings/Account at 11:40 am I see it synced correctly at 11:30 am (with Macrodroid/Tasker 'sync AquaMail' action), but I haven't received any new e-mails. If try syncing from there (Phone/Settings/Account/AquaMail) I see the message 'Last sync at xx:yy) but I don't get any new e-mail.
If I open the app and sync from there I get new emails.

In AquaMail/Settings I've tried also to select Push notification or Scheduled one, but nothing changed.
I've tried also to enable Auto sync in Phone/Settings/Account and to sync from there, but still I don't get any new emails.

Oh so you trigger sync through Phone Settings / Accounts?

Sorry that doesn't do anything :) That's now what drives our mail sync.

Aqua Mail has a tasker plugin built-in and if you run mail sync through that, it actually does that (and not just updates the date/time in phone settings / accounts).

The only plugin I've seen is for opening AquaMail Settings..Am I missing something or I have to use it for syncing (in casi I think I need to know how)?

Yes that's the one - an app can only publish one plugin, and this one started as a plugin for changing settings.

Please just open its configuration and you'll see that there are "settings" for triggering mail sync.
