Deleting account whilst keeping messages
« on: February 22, 2017, 12:35:54 am »
Hello,

First of of all, Aquamail is a joy to use and first class application ! Congratulations.

Secondly, I wished to change a pop setting of an account into an imap Setting, but I know it is not possible. So I created a very similar account, with imap setting, and with a different name. It works (I receive messages sent to this mail ID on both accounts).
Now I 'd like to cancel the redundant pop account, but keep the old messages. I only found a "delete account" function, without an option to keep the messages....
In another post of this forum, however, I read this: "Remove your Pop3 account from AquaMail (do not delete messages, just delete the whole account - press a long time on its name, then "Delete the account")"...
How does the app knows that you want to delete the account but keep the messages ? And more importantly, if this sequence of commands actually saves the existing messages whilst cancelling the account, where are the messages once the acocunt is cancelled ? :o

Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I understand... Since my (pop) account has the setting "leave messages on the server" unchecked on my PC, when my mails have been read on the PC, they are deleted from the server ; therefore this will not work for me.
Is it possible at all, as an alternative, to transfer received emails from one account to another account... ?

I use Outlook (I planned to change for Thunderbird, but I heard maintenance will be discontinued...?), and it's also possible to do this with it. But I meant on Aquamail of course (to delete the account whilst keeping the messages). Too bad.
Thank you anyway for your assistance. ;)
