Delete E-mails on phone, but keep them on server
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:28:04 pm »
Hi there!

I'm not sure how to change the following setting: I have four accounts connected to Aquamail on my phone.
For some of them, E-mails are still on my computer / on the server when I delete them in Aquamail, for the others they are deleted everywhere. Where do I find the setting to choose and change that?

And connected to that question is also: When I go to "Synchronization" and set to keep 500 e-mails locally, I still have a lot more and don't know why.

Anyone knows answers to that?
Thanks!
Anne

Ok cool! Can you please tell me where to find them? When I go to setting, I only find the general settings, but nothing about the accounts.

Quote
Then press a long time on every account name -> Options and folders ¬> folders and post screenshots showing the folders and their settings.

I found how to delete the messages from the server directly - in "Account options" => Deleting messages => Delete from the server immediately.

It remains the question after the limited amount of saved messages. I attached a screenshot from the pop3 that shows "500 messages", but yet there are a lot more saved in the app (same is true for all other accounts).
I would like to delete older messages from the app resp. show only the newest 500, but keep them on the server. Can you tell me how to do that?

Ok, thank you! About Pop3 - I have no idea why one of them is pop3 and the other three imap, I don't know how this stuff works really... I just copy + paste what I have to or what worked in thunderbird, and that's actually it  :P

Hi Paris Geek,

-- Done :-) But still have over 3000 Mails in the Inbox of this account and 2000 in the inbox of each of the others. I want a Maximum of 500 (but only on the phone of course). I think I changed every setting that says "show mail" etc. to 500. What did I miss?

Yes, it is IMAP now, all of the accounts.

Here is the screenshot - I changed from 250 to 500 for all accounts. Still a lot more e-mails.

I see! It selects 100, but I can load more at any time. I think I understand the system now. Thank you!  :)

Hi Anne,
the (total) amount of messages in Account list (the number on the right) shows the total amount of messages in each folder on the server, not within AquaMail.
-> see screenshot: Inbox = "5798"
(My own setting: Message to cache = "250")
