Exchange mail not changing from unread to read

Hello,

I have just downloaded AquaMail Pro.

One minor problem is with my exchange mail account.

I sync mail to my phone and later if I read or delete the exchange email on the server, the message does not update on Aquamail.

Apologies if this topic has been covered before.

Appreciate any assistance with this.

Please check how exactly you'd set up the account in Aqua Mail:

- Long press on the account on the app's main screen
- Options and folders
- You'll see one of: "Exchange options", "IMAP options", "POP3 options", that's how you'll know.

Exchange, IMAP, or POP3 are different ways to connect to a mail server.

Out of these, POP3 does not provide any sort of read/unread back and forth sync with the mail server (so a mail app uses its own logic and storage to track read/unread messages).

If it is indeed POP3, please remove the account from Aqua Mail (long press on it, choose Remove account) and add back, making sure to use either Exchange mail (in the account type popup) or Internet Mail (same).

For the latter, since Internet Mail can be either POP3 or IMAP, please tap Manual after entering your email and password, and be sure to select IMAP (top of the screen) and to enter the right server settings (server name, encryption, port #) for IMAP.

I checked and it shows "Exchange Options" at this location.

OK, this is good.

Now when you wrote that "later if I read or delete the exchange email on the server" -- where do you do this?

If it's anywhere but the mail provider's web site (web mail) -- please use this web site (web mail) to check that the messages *there* actually turn read or are deleted as you expect them to.

Hi Kostya,

Thanks for your reply.

I read my emails on my computer using MS Outlook. When I read emails here, they do change state on Aquamail which is good.

If I delete the email using MS Outlook, the email remains in Aquamail. This is also the case when I empty my deleted folder.

Can you check if the messages do get deleted on your mail provider's web site (web mail)?

And one more thing to check in Aqua Mail:

Please long press on the account -> options and folders -> account options -> make sure that "remove deleted messages" is enabled (checked).

If it already is, we can troubleshoot this further.

PS - What app version? Have you got the 1.7.0 upgrade yet?
