How to make the notification go away when messages are read
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:01:13 pm »
If I have the Android phone on, with Aqua Mail Widget showing. And then at the same time I have a computer with Outlook running.

If I receive an email, I get a notification on the phone, and the email is displayed and highlighted in the widget.

If I read the email in Outlook (and it is then marked as read), the highlight goes away in the widget.

However, the notification icon is still there. How do I make Aqua Mail remove the notification (without opening or clearing the notification, or reading another email in Aqua Mail)?

Hmm, it should clear as long as there as no unread messages left.

Are there perhaps other, older, unread messages in this account / folder?

You should be able to see it on the app's main screen (the list of accounts / folders), the bold numbers next to each account.

If you do, you can expand the account, long press the folder with those older messages, and choose "mark all read" from the popup.

Hello!

No, I re-checked, and it still doesn't remove the notification icon until I open Aqua Mail.

I have checked, and there are no unread emails in any account (and Aqua Mail displays no number to indicate that (it does display the number at other times, so I know that works!)).

My test right now was:
1) Make sure that no email is unread in Aqua Mail.
2) Send an email to myself using Outlook. (subject = "test")
3) Press the circular arrow in the aqua mail widget to instantly check for new messages.
4) Notice that the mail appears in the Aqua Mail widget and that there is a notification icon. When pulling down the notification bar I can see that it displays the correct subject there as well (subject = "test").
5) Read the email in Outlook and make sure that it is marked read there.
6) Press the circular arrow in the aqua mail widget to instantly check for new messages.
7) Notice that the email is no longer highlighted in the Aqua Mail widget. (correct)
8) Notice that the notification icon is still present (incorrect).
9) When pulling down the notification bar I can see that it displays the subject of the email that now should be read (subject = "test")

Is there some setting that I have set incorrectly?

I have checked "Only when new messages", "Only when there are changes", and I have chosen "Notify About / All unread messages"

I have re-tested it. I synchronized the emails between 5) and 6), and I also waited for several minutes. And it still displays the notification icon (incorrectly).

Since Aqua Mail understands correctly that the email should no longer be highlighted in the widget, the I assume that the data/information about that the email is no longer unread is received by Aqua Mail. But something causes the notification icon to not be removed.

At this point, I'd need to see a debug log with this issue captured.

Please see the link in my signature, below.

Thanks.
