No notification of new mail
« on: June 18, 2015, 02:00:05 pm »
Hello
Excuse me for my English :)

I read earlier this forum and did not find a clear answer.

I have a phone with Android 4.4.2 and for anything I can not get AquaMail to display notifications for new mail.
I checked where possible and certainly set to sync, and of course it is. The roadmap also all set. It IMAP protocol.

The application system works as it should and shows the notification as it should.
AquaMail need because of the identity (bought versions of Pro). Bit of a pain to use two e-mail programs at once.

Is there a mistake? Or maybe not everything checked?

EDIT tux:
Notifications act only as the application is opened and not closed. Should not they work notice how the application is not running?

Yes, with the default settings, the app should be checking for new mail every 15 minutes.

Now does it fetch messages at all (and perhaps they're already read)?

Does it look like it's at least checking mail (and perhaps not seeing new messages)?

You can tell by "last sync time" below each account in the app's main window (account list), even if there is only one (account).

I have my own domain and server. Mail IMAP is supported.
If you have enabled the application (can be dropped into the background) is always a notification is. Then everything works as it should.
But if I set the synchronization at any number of minutes (eg. at 5) and the application shut down, nothing happens. The system settings of synchronization (android) includes the date and time of last synchronization before closing the application.
Currently I have a phone with Android 4.4.2 (before I got a phone with android 4.2.2). In the previous work without problem.

The application itself is great. Really well done and keep up the good.

Can you explain what you mean by:

>> and the application shut down

Do you "stop the app" in system settings -> apps management -> running apps? Yes, that really does "stop" an app.

Or perhaps "swipe away" from Android's recent apps list? That, since 4.3, also puts apps into a "stopped" state.

Yes, I mean "swipe away".
Is the 4.3 I do not close the application?

That's what 4.3 did:
If you "swipe away" AquaMail from Android's recent app list, that will stopp AquaMail.

Swiping an app "away" from "recents" list marks apps as "frozen", and they stop receiving any time-trigger events (or any events at all) -- until you restart the app's UI (window).

This bug originally appeared in 4.1 (and got much discussion on @android-developers mailing list, which back then had people from Google)... nothing. It got worse in 4.3, and I'm not sure about 5.0 - 5.1.

So yes, sorry, basically the app gets "fully and completely stopped" when you do this.

And now everything is clear :)
I will continue to use the application - I consider it to be the best email client for Android.
