Smart Folder Not Loading Messages Read Outside App

I'm using AquaMail Pro 1.5.1.13 on my Android (v4.1.2) phone.  Recently, I've noticed that the Smart Folder view in the app is not loading messages that were read outside the app.  I have 4 gmail accounts linked to my AquaMail app for almost two years now, and this has not always been the behavior of the Smart Folder.  It used to show all messages.  Was an option added that I need to flip to get the old behavior back, or is this a bug?

The smart folder has settings for what it shows, in single panel UI mode (phone, not tablet) you can pull out the "navigation drawer" from the left edge of the screen.

Check out "Settings" -> "Smart Folder". There's an option "Smart Folder time period" which might be set to "Only unread" - if so, tap it and set whatever option you want.
