Notification Reminder
« on: February 22, 2015, 10:30:35 am »
Hello & Help,
I just upgraded phones and I thought this worked on my old phone.

Using an HTC M8
I set the screen to turn off after 2 mins checking my email every 15 mins
e mail comes in turns on screen then once it goes back off
is there a setting to have a flashing light in the status bar if I don't read it?

Thank You any help.

Problem solved,
Turns out, if you check "Turn screen on when notifying"
and with the screen saver turning the screen back off
this will turn off the blinking notification light in the status bar.

Hi granpawdave,
In addition to that there is an option to get a  'blinking' notification for new messages:
Settings  > Message notifications > Enable the option 'LED notifications'

In combination with the option 'Turn screen on' this is working as follows:
> a new message comes in > screen turns on (no blinking LED) > if the screen goes back to sleep / turns off: the LED starts blinking. If you turn the screen is on,  the LED will stop blinking again...

BTW,  there is also an option to change the colour of the LED...

On the original poster's device, the LED stops blinking completely after screen on / off.

It's an HTC "optimization", they also turn off the LED after five minutes of blinking (at least on some models).
