How to exclude emails from certain senders?
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:32:23 pm »
How can I exclude emails from certain senders in AquaMail?

I mean the following:

I'm getting many newsletters and similar emails. But I don't want to see it on my smartphone, only on my desktop pc. I'm thinking about a blacklist for AquaMail, meaning that emails from certain senders addresses are not shown on AquaMail, and will not get a notification.

I'm using IMAP.

Sorry there is no message filtering / rules in Aqua.

But I think the right place to do this is on the server, anyway (haha, who cares what I think?)

So if I were you, I'd set up message rules in web mail.

I've been doing it for years with message lists and various notifications in my Gmail account (but then, what does that -- how I do things -- have to do with anything?)

Ok, let me try again:

Thank you for you question, it's very important to us.

Regrettably, AquaMail does not provide message rules / filtering.

OK, I could write a rule on the email server to put those emails in a different folder called e.g. "newsletter". But can I exclude that folder from AquaMail? If not, it doesn't help me at all.

Do you think about that feature?

If by "exclude" you mean "I never want to see it" -- you can't, it will show if you bring up the account's folder list.

If by "exclude" you mean "I don't want the app to download anything from it, or to notify me about new messages there" -- it's the default.

After initial account setup, only the Inbox and the three "special" folders are set to "sync".

All the others you can still access "as needed", but they won't "sync" when the app checks mail and there are no notifications for them either.

So, what Paris Geek said and also please see the FAQ under "Accessing server folders", near the top. Or just try it.

@ Paris Geek & Kostya:

Thanks for your help. By "exclude" I meant "I don't want the app to download anything from it, or to notify me about new messages there" . So I will setup anything as told from you.

Thanks.
