Calendar Invites from Exchange
« on: August 28, 2014, 03:45:46 pm »
Hi,

I got duplicates of the calendar invites when accepting them through aquamail.
This only happens with aquamail.

The account is a Exchange EWS account.

Duplicates where?

On the server?

In an EWS account, Aqua works with your Exchange server when accepting an invite, and Exchange servers automatically save accepted invites as calendar events.

Therefore, it's not necessary to tell Aqua that it should also save the accepted invite as a calendar event -- this is a checkbox in Aqua's invite handling window.

That's just my guess, but that's all I can do without more detailed info.

Duplicates on the server. So I see it in may calendar view on my phone and Outlook 2013 client.

Now I unchecked the options, save to calendar in the invite. Now it seems to work! Only one item in the calendar. Great!

Is it possible to make the uncheck option to a default option?

Thanks for really Quick response

BR

Good.

I'm about to start releasing 1.5.0, and avoiding any changes other than priority bug fixes -- but I'll write it down on my short list for after that.

The issue will become moot when Aqua supports two way calendar event sync (for Exchange), which is a part of my next milestone (1.6).

Wrong time for appointments in exchange calendar meetings.

This crops up with AquaMail 1.5.5.34 (and previous) for repetitive appointments that straggle time changes (standard to summer time or daylight saving time, etc). So, I have a regular 09:00 meeting that is set up over many months. Previously (with other e-mail programs) the 09:00 appointments stay 09:00 even when the time zone changes (to summer time) but on my android phone with aCalendar+ - with AquaMail syncing the appointments, they have now mysteriously moved to 10:00 - presumably as they were created in standard time and AM has added an hour for the change to summer time. Outlook 365 still shows the appointments correctly at 09:00.

Not sure it is something in my settings. To check this is still the case with the latest AM release, I deleted my exchange account (and the IMAP version of the same e-mail account) from AM (causing the calendar entries to disappear, then reinstalled from backed up settings and once the calendar had updated again, checked to see whether the issue was still the case... Anyway, it means I am always having to double check appointment times (kind of defeats the object) to check whether the times shown are correct (if the appointment has been created recently) or have been shifted by an hour (appointments created before GMT -> BST - or at least that is what I am guessing is the case).

Is there a workaround for this issue (switching off all time zone info would not help in my case as I get a number of appointments from colleagues abroad and there the messages should be adjusted for the local time).

Many thanks for any hints.

Best wishes, Boris.

@boris -- I think it's probably a case of Exchange server not reporting the correct time zone (when using the EWS network protocol -- ActiveSync apparently does not have this bug).

I've seen this in debug logs before -- but a log from you would be great.

Please see the instructions below (in my signature), just enable logging with "raw session data" enabled, change an event's category / color to force a re-sync, then "refresh" in your calendar app to bring in the change.

You can send the log to kmansoft / gmail

Dear Kostya,
I have been meaning to thank you for your response and apologise for not yet having created a log file to post. I will do this as soon as I can and apologise again for my tardiness!
Best wishes, Boris.
