How to always open Aqua Mail at the accounts list?
« on: August 27, 2014, 02:38:08 pm »
Hi. My Aqua Mail opens at the same state I left it. So if I am reading an email then press the home button on my phone and do other stuff, when I hit the Aqua Mail icon it opens in that same read email. Is there a way to set up Aqua Mail to always open at the accounts list when I hit the icon?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. What you say only works if I close aqua mail rather than pressing the home button that keeps the app running in the back ground. Think I just need to train myself to close aqua mail with the back button rather than the home button.

This is a normal Android thing -- working as expected.

If you "close" an application with the Home button, you're not really closing it... Think "minimize" in Windows.... When you restore from minimized, you're re-entered the previously saved state.

You may want to explore Aqua settings -> look and feel -> "close with Back from message list" or "close with long press of Back".

I've got the opposite request - I vary rarely use the account list (I only have one account) and would like Aqua Mail to start in the Inbox with the first mail displayed. Incidentally, I'm using AM on a tablet (landscape view). I have set the option in 'Look and feel' to start the app in Inbox, however, the account list is always displayed on the left with the Inbox on the right. I'd like to not see the account list, but have the inbox on the left with the messages on the right. I can get to this if I click on the first (or other) message, but I'd like to default to this view when I start up AM.  I'm sure I used to have this set up, but for the life of me, I can't find how to get this back. I've set up to exit from Inbox rather than going back to account list, but just can't seem to get it to open first email and avoid the account list altogether.

Any help very gratefully received!

Sorry, there is no setting for the app to "go to first unread message in first unread folder" -- unless you "run" the app from a notification and the notification is "about" just one unread message.

Many thanks for quick reply.

I must be going mad as I was sure that I used to be able to do this on my tablet.  I very rarely used to see the account list (as I never needed to, with only one account).  When I started up Aqua Mail (from the icon, not from a notification), I would only see the list of emails on the left with the preview of whatever email was selected on the right.  I'm sure it would open to that view and, because I had the setting '"Back" to close from message list' activated, I would never go back to the account list view.

Having said that, no-one knows this application better than you, so I must have been mistaken and might be going slightly mad ;-)

Thanks for such a fantastic app - by far the best mail application available for Android !
