How to always go directly to opened mail from widget?

Sometimes when I click a specific mail in the list widget Aqua opens directly to that mail. However sometimes it opens to the inbox of that account instead. How do I get Aqua to always go directly to the mail clicked in the widget?

I tried searching but found no topic on this subject, is it perhaps a bug?

Could be a bug, but are you always tapping an actual message (in the widget)?

I'm asking because tapping the widget's "title" (where it shows the account / folder names) opens the folder's message list (or the main window with the account expanded, if the widget is set to "point to" all folders in an account).

Yes, I'm tapping a specific mail and Aqua opens to the inbox of that account instead. However, I haven't been able to figure out a pattern to when this happens (as opposed to opening the mail itself). It happens on both my phone (HTC One S, custom rom, rooted) and tablet (Z2 Tablet, stock rom, non-rooted), both have Nova launcher.

I've never seen this either. Not questioning what you're seeing at all, just that it's not easy to reproduce.

Is changing screen orientation involved at all?

Could you try using stock launcher on one of those devices (temporarily, as a test)?
