SMTP error with "-" in Domain Name?

Hi,

i use your app since more then one year and was realy happy with it.
Now i got a new Smartphone and buy me a pro Lizenz and nothing work


IMAP connection works, but SMTP got following error:

(SMTP): Fehler bei Übermittlung der Mail. 501

It seems that either your sender's or your recipient's mail address is malformed. There is a whitespace (" ") between "gametown" and "projects.de", it schuld be a dash ("-"). So check the following:

1. In your account settings is your mail addressed spelled correctly?
2. While composing a new mail have you spelled the recipient's address correctly?

It is korrekt every where 

First nothing work (No Imap, no smtp), then i change the keyboard to android default and it works.... but not smtp.

?! I cant add the smtp server because of this error... so i cant send a mail.

The change in keyboard seem to imply that you were entering the "dash" (minus) as a "long dash", which is a special character, entirely different from the usual "minus" sign.

Are you still getting the same error with SMTP, or a different one?

Please capture the issue (attempting to configure the account) in a debug log, with "session data" enabled -- this is linked below in my signature.

Sry, i forgot to check this Thread. But i have still the same problem.

In that log file the dash in the address in one of the early rows is a long dash, not sure if it is an em dash or an en dash. Neither can be used in an email address or domain name.
To see what they look like, i typed a number of dashes here using the google keyboard. The first is a normal hyphen (short press), the others were typed using a long press of the hyphen, which offers a choice of different dashes, plus underscore and decimal point. I have chosen them in the order they appear.
Test-test—test_test–test·test   
So, hyphen, em dash, underscore, en dash, (English) decimal point, from left to right.

I have tried all avaible dash's on my virtual keyboards. Nothing work.
Your dashes have unfortunately not helped me.


Where does the config files are stored, then I try to edit it manually.

Email address validation in Aqua is very forgiving -- just like in stock Email and K9 (I believe).

This is intentional so as to not prevent the entry of some valid addresses. You've got to be careful about what you're really entering, though.

And yes, the suggestion to use the keyboard's numeric mode gets a +1 from me
