Deleted IMAP folder caused "Network error".
« on: April 28, 2014, 01:41:50 pm »
Hi, Perhaps this is not a bug but for me an unwanted feature.

My syncing stopped working and I've started to escalate the issue to our IT department when I realized what the issue was:

I have several IMAP folders synced. I've deleted one of the folder which I had set to "sync as incoming" since then I was unable to to receive mails as it was always timing out the synch when it tried to sync the non existing folder.
To fix this I had to go to Account setting -> Folders the app refreshed the folders and the problem disappeared.

Could the app check if the folder exist on the server once in a while, delete it automatically from the sync folder, or change its setting automatically when just moved on the server?

Well, a failing IMAP SELECT does not necessarily mean that the folder really has been deleted (and intentionally so). In theory, there can be transient errors, e.g. a storage / disk error.

The error message should have been "missing folder". I'll check out out.
