Docking AquaMail Unread message count Widget to bottom line of icons

I cannot drag or install the Aqua Mail unread message count widget to the bottom line of icons on my Android 4.4 phone. It just won't drag into place and appears to only be able to sit on the regular icons above the favourites. Is it possible to have this widget installed on thebottom line of icons on my phone?

As far as I know, the bottom bar in the standard launcher does not accept widgets -- only app shortcuts and labels.

Not an issue with Aqua, just how the stock Android launcher works. I know it's possible with Apex (or was it Nova?) and maybe others.
