Immediate notification of an Email
« on: May 14, 2013, 02:10:18 am »
I just bought the Aquamail pro  and have set up 4 email accounts from Hotmail, gmail and t-online. I need to know how to get an immediate notification when an Email arrives, without having to manually refresh each account.

If you use IMAP Push accounts like Gmail you will get immediate notifications. You have to enable this feature in general settings and in the account settings -> folders.
For POP3 accounts like Hotmail you can set a minimum check interval of 15 minutes. Hotmail does not allow checking below 15 minutes.

Thats a shame as my main Email address is with hotmail, my old hotmail app did notify instantly, but unfortunately stopped working when it was updated to Outlook, thats why I changed to Aquamail. :-[

I hate to say that I had to go back to K9 Email because Aqua Mail was not updating my Comcast email right! Bummer I even paid for it!

Comcast is also POP3, also stuck in 1996, just like Hotmail, and Earthlink (to name a few).

This means no access to folders and no syncing of read/unread state.

Well, it's now been all working properly for a few days. I'm very pleased with that and thank-you all for your help and advice. Much appreciated.

Great, thanks.

And btw, Comcast has IMAP now (in beta, I believe).

What made them finally do this? Looks like Windows 8's lack of POP3 support, based on what I've read.

Just in case someone else needs this, here is a link to sign up for IMAP access on Comcast:
