Android app checks emails with much delay.

Using version 1.56.0.589, android 16. When I put the phone online, all other apps quickly check messages, but aquamail takes minutes. Secondly, after it's checked and downloaded messages, it's home screen widget 'messages' takes another number of minutes before it refreshes and shows the downloaded messages.

Any ideas/fixes?

Btw, although my notifications are all checked in my account settings, I get none. Nothing in spam either ;-)
