Getting Gmail to delete off server when deleting off of Aqua

According to the help files, "Deleting messages from Gmail requires that they first be moved into the Deleted folder, which in turn has to be set up to synchronize with “[Gmail]/Trash”. When setting up a Gmail account, AquaMail sets this up automatically."

I've set it up so that they are first moved into the deleted folder.  It indicates above that AquaMail sets it up to sync with the [Gmail]/Trash automatically when I set up the account.  But it still leaves the messages on the server when I delete them off of Aqua.  Since it's my main account, this is a real problem.  What have I done wrong?

Actually, on further inspection, I have my yahoo accounts to delete immediately from the server as well, and none of them are coming off the server, either

Can you double-check that the app's [ Deleted ] syncs with [Gmail]/Trash?

Long press the [ Deleted ] folder - top item should be "-> [Gmail]/Trash".

If not, please bring up the account's Options and Folders / Folders (by long pressing), scroll to [Gmail]/Trash, tap it, choose Sync with [ Deleted ].

If it already is, please capture the issue in a debug log, per this page:

I'm a bit befuddled.  When I long press the deleted folder, the only option that I get is "delete all" - no other options.

As far as in the Options and Folders/Folders, there is no [Gmail]/Trash listed, so I guess that's my problem right there.

If [Gmail]/Trash is not in the folder list, sounds like maybe you've set up GMail using POP3, is that possible?

Can you long press the account, choose Account setup, then Manual, and see what it says near the top -- IMAP or POP3.

If it's POP3, please remove the account and add back in in automatic mode -- AquaMail has a preset for @gmail.com addresses.

I used the auto set up to begin with, and I checked...it's set up through IMAP.  I'm at a bit of a loss.  (Other than that, I really like the program, so once I get this annoying glitch worked out, it'll be perfect).

Sorry to be asking something so basic, but... did you scroll through the Folders screen to see if [Gmail]/Trash is there?

If your Gmail web mail is set to a language other than English, the folder name will be translated too (mine is "[Gmail]/Корзина", that's in Russian).

Would it be possible to get a debug log, with "session data", capturing your bringing up the Options and Folders -> Folders screen (and letting it refresh)?

That's ok, I don't mind you being basic, I'm sure I'm coming off as a complete idiot.  When I look at the folders, "trash" is not one of the options.  I'll try the debugging log.  I appreciate your help.
