I have several email accounts. One is a live.com account set up as Exchange, with calendar sync turned on. I received an email with an ics attachment. I tapped the attachment and an Event Details box popped up. The send reply button was greyed out with a message that this was a published event. I had options for maybe, decline, and accept. There was no option to choose which calendar. I tapped accept but it didn't appear in my calendar.

I forwarded the email to my Gmail account and opened the attachment again from that account (also in aqua mail). This time the event details box had more options. It now had a save in calendar check box, a list to choose which calendar, and reminder options. I tapped accept and it appeared in my Gmail calendar.

Why didn't it work straight from my live.com account?

Thank you

Exchange events are automatically generated by Exchange servers from invites - and then Aqua syncs calendar events to the device.

So in the first case I'm guessing the event was already synced to the phone by Aqua.

And perhaps you were not seeing it because in your Calendar app you'd turned off the display of events from this particular "calendar" (the Homail / Exchange account's "calendar"). Should be able to enable that in the Calendar app's settings.

Thank you, but I have that calendar synced in Google calendar, and I see other events on it. But this one not...

"that" Calendar - your Exchange account's calendar?

Using what app? Aqua or not?

Re: But this one not

This one event (invite)?

And others like it - no problem?

"your Exchange account's calendar?"
Yes

"Using what app? Aqua or not?"
Vieing in Google calendar app. Aqua doesn't display calendars, does it?

"This one event (invite)?"
Yes

"And others like it - no problem?"
Can't answer for certain as I don't usually receive emails with ics attachment - I usually create events through Outlook on my computer or through Google calendar app. But when I forwarded the email to my Gmail account, it worked (entirely through Aqua).

When sent an ics attachment should I expect Exchange to add it automatically? I thought that was only if it was sent from an another Exchange account?

Thank you very much for replying.

Yes - at least when the two Exchange accounts "connect" through Internet (as opposed to both being inside the corporate network).

The .ics format *is* how calendar invites are encoded in email messages.

---

If you're not sure whether it's a single message or if there is a pattern - it would be hard to diagnose.

Maybe - if you're interested - you could send yourself a test invite, say, from Google Calendar Web Site to your Exchange account, and see how that works.

If there is a reproducible issue - then we can look at that. A single event is going to be a lot harder to diagnose.

That worked fine - must be something wrong with that particular email then.
