Button strip at the bottom and in the middle

Hi Kostya,
Hope you're doing well.

I've recently bought a new phone with Android 8 and I've noticed some things that are different from when I was on Android 4.4.2.
We used to have a button strip at the bottom (when in main screen and in an inbox) with several very functional buttons (refresh, new email, search, etc).
I saw that there was the floating button and dock but I don't like them.

We also used to have a button strip right above the keyboard when replying to an email (send, save, attach, etc), now the send button is all the way at the top (who's going to reach that?)

I restored my settings from the old phone and checked everything but I can't get these back as they were.
If I missed them somehow please let me know where I can find them and go back to how it was.
If this was changed please bring them back.

Having buttons hidden in menus at the top of the screen or just having buttons at the top is not comfortable.
At least give us an option to choose what works for us.

Sorry this isn't possible, because of a change made by Google in Android 5.0. The "buttons along the bottom" are "not part of the modern Android design".

We added a special case (our own code) on the message "view" screen, but on the other screens it's handled by Android, and so the menu bar ("action bar" as it's called) is along the top.

No not a chance, sorry - all of the app's themes now use Material themes as their base(s) and so no more icons along the bottom.

Please note that:

Even though icons along the bottom on those two screens won’t be coming back … the app has capabilities that make it easier to use it with one hand and not have to reach to the top:

– Floating Action Button for compose
– Swipe down for “check mail”, works on the main screen and in message lists both
– Swipe down (on the left) for “select all messages” in message lists
– Swipe gestures don’t have to be started near the top of the screen
– Floating context bar with icons for “actions on selected messages”, positioned near the bottom.

With that in mind, please see app settings -> look and feel, and enable “floating action button” and “floating context bar”. And then app settings -> message list -> please enable “pull to select” and “pull to refresh”.
