Smart Folder - Selectable Time Periods Not Working

I can't see any difference in my smart folder when I select 10 minutes or 8 hours or any other "time-based" setting. The Read vs Unread seems to work. Am I doing anything wrong or are there any other settings I need to mess with to get that to work? Seems like a great feature.

Is that setting - the frequency of synchronization?
What difference do you expect to see, and what do you see instead?

Well, when I hit the menu directly to the left of "Smart Folder", I see the menu as shown in the screen shot I am attaching. My assumption was that it would then only display emails that had been sent within the specified time frame. If I want to only emails sent in the last "Ten minutes, One hour, Eight Hours, etc."

Is that not how it works?

I don't use Smart Folder myself, but from testing of how it works, I believe the option that you've described should be understood as follows:
"Show all unread messages from the synchronized period (as set in the sync options) plus all messages from the period specified in this option [for Smart Folder]". I agree that the way the option it is somewhat confusing, as it doesn't mention that all synchronized unread messages will be shown in the Smart Folder.

On the FAQ page, newbielink:http://www.aqua-mail.com/?page_id=227 [nonactive], under "What is the Smart Folder?", it says the following:

"The Smart Folder shows messages which, over a selectable time period:
1) were sent (this is the date/time in the header);
2) were read, including read in other apps (for IMAP).
3) or are unread, no matter what their date/time is.
You can also include starred messages in this list, please see app settings under Smart Folder or the navigation drawer (side panel) in the smart folder’s message list view.

In other words, this is the list of messages that might require attention, or that you might need to come back to. This folder is enabled by default, but can be disabled in the app’s settings."

I'm thinking that this folder grabbed the original selectable time period I had set up, but is not removing emails that don't fall within the newly selected time period. I'm going to dig through and delete a bunch of emails to see if it starts responding to the newly specified time period.

I'll post back what I find out.

It is removing from the Smart folder all read messages that are beyond that time period.
Do you see in the Smart folder any read messages that are beyond the time period selected for the Smart folder?
I would assume, the answer is no. Only unread messages are included beyond the selected (for Smart Folder) period. But both read and unread are included from that period.

Ah ok, I understand now. Totally makes sense how it works. Thank you very much!

I would say though, it would be nice if I could choose to just have the smart folder show ONLY a specific period of emails at a time OR only a specific number of emails at a time, like 20 emails at a time. Would be easier for me to compartmentalize the MONSTROSITY that is my multiple emails accounts LOL
