Too Many Login Attempts
« on: February 22, 2017, 08:12:14 pm »
I am unable to send emails from AquaMail, with a "Too many login attempts" error message.

I can draft on AquaMail, those drafts will then appear in the mail drafts folder on other devices, and they can then be sent from those other devices, so I know that the problem is not my mail servers.

I have been travelling today, in the London Underground, on trains with tunnels, in rural areas with poor connections, so I can quite imagine that there have been lots of failed logins, but that shouldn't kill my ability to send for hours...

Are you using IMAP or POP3 vs Exchange?
Based on your description, I suspect it is the former.
And in that case, I can think about  a few possible reasons:
1. Wrong password for the SMTP server.
Were you sending any messages from this device before?

2. Spotty connectivity can lead to interrupted logins to the SMTP server, and in principle can yield such an outcome (depending on the configuration of the server). The server might have a protection from multiple unsuccessful connections, implementing a temporary ban for connections from a certain IP address -- that's not Aquamail's fault.

Note, that drafts are saved via IMAP connection, that's why you can save the draft on the server.
