Aqua Mail IMAP operation using Blackberry priv

I wonder if anybody can help with the following.
Have used Aqua mail pro for years on various Motorola devices
Have recently moved to a Blackberry Priv
Have set up my two email accounts on the Priv (IMAP push) and they work fine
However I am now left with a constant notification on the Priv when opening the screen saying
‘Aqua mail Push mail: account 1, account 2’
It shows the Aqua mail icon with a count of ‘1’ on it
When you swipe it open there no emails
If an email comes in, the counter will go to 2 (1 email plus phantom ‘1’)
If I operate in fetch mode this issue doesn’t occur
I’ve tried it with a Gmail account in IMAP mode and do not have the same issue
BB insist it is an aqua Mail issue

I’m not so sure but would be grateful if anybody has any ideas or has experienced the same issue

App settings -> look and feel -> turn off "notification icon during sync and push".
