You may want to check if the mapping of the server folders to the Aquamail "functional" folders (Deleted, Trash) is correct.
To do that:
Long-press on the [Deleted] Folder. It will show which folder it is pointing to (mapped).
If it is not mapped to the desired Trash folder, do that mapping:
1 – Long press the account, choose “Options and Folders” then “Folders”
2 – Scroll down to the server’s Trash folder (for Gmail, that’s “[Gmail]/Trash”, or whatever in your language if it is different from English).
3 - Tap the Trash folder, choose “Sync with [Deleted] folder”.
