Restore from Dropbox
« on: February 27, 2015, 09:35:16 pm »
I successfully did a backup to my Dropbox account yesterday, and today did a factory reset on my Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 5.0). I'm trying to restore my AquaMail settings, and when I do (from within AquaMail) it appears to find the backup file OK from Dropbox, and appears to "copy" the file but then it's asking for a password, and I have no idea what password it's looking for.

I took some guesses at what the password might be and actually stumbled upon the right one. All is well, but unless I'm brain dead (entirely possible) I don't remember setting a password on the backup file. Hmmm.

Problem solved.  Puuuh...   8)

However,  you can try to make a new backup to see if there will be a request to set a password.

There won't be -- once you've made backup, the password field will be pre-filled (and not backed up, and "show password" will be disabled, for security).

A password is required because the backup file is stored on the "memory card", which can be read if a phone is lost / stolen, and so the password is used as the encryption key.
