Hi,

Firstly AquaMail great email client. However, this bug has been causing much frustration during composing messages of late.

During composition, after a draft is saved (noticebly more after the screen goes to sleep), pressing the delete key to delete a single character from the end of the composing text, causes the _complete_ text to be deleted.

Looks like it's reproducable 100% of the time.

I am using IMAP email (Tuffmail specifically), IMAP Push, and the Drafts folder synced with the server.

Let me know if you need more details/testing etc.

Thanks,

Andrew

Forgot to mention - this is with Aqua Mail Pro 1.5.0.19, composing messages in Formatted text/RichText.
Running on Android 4.2.2 (Fairphone in particular - cannot upgrade to the 4.4 series unfortunately)

Can't reproduce... (tried on a 4.4 device, but should not make any difference).

I would try turning off push for the Drafts folder -- as a test -- if it's enabled.

Before you hit Delete, is the entire body of text highlighted, by any chance?

That would explain why it gets deleted (I don't know know why it would get highlighted like that, but it would be one step towards understanding what's going on).

What if you tap somewhere else first, to move the cursor?

Hi Kostya,

Delayed reply - as was not able to find more details regarding a solution. There was a related issue of a draft after saved being strangely undeletable from the end (i.e. by pressing the delete key) until I'd move the cursor to within the saved text, type a new character, and then move to the end, and the delete key now works.

I've noticed that the original disappearing text issue no longer occurs, however the above mentioned uneditable issue is still there. It's not clear to me if this change is due to updates from within AquaMail or on the IMAP server (Tuffmail) end, but don't mind the non deletable bug to be honest.

Many thanks,

Andrew

I don't think it's anything to do with the server.

Try this: AquaMail settings -> debug -> enable the top checkbox ("Disable GPU acceleration").

It might be totally irrelevant, but just in case, I would mention this:
I remember that there was a bug in the "built-in" e-mail that appeared the same: an attempt of deleting a single symbol was deleting the entire e-mail. I don't remember if it was due to the e-mail app or the keyboard, or the combination of the two.
If I remember correctly, it was with one of the earlier (or possibly original stock) versions of Samsung Galaxy S3 (VZW). It was described somewhere online some 2 years ago, possibly in the description of the bugs fixed in the OTA system update. -- So, it can be found if needed.

As I said, it is likely to be totally irrelevant, but the synopsis was the same.
