tagged emails are deselected when clicking on a star.

If I have tagged several emails for deletion and then select/click-on a star all tagged (selected) emails are untagged.  I don't believe this should happen.

Yes it happens, I don't see why it shouldn't -- since setting or clearing a star is a message operation... same thing happens if you mark a few messages and use the icons below to mark them read or unread, or starred.
