Bug when changing my password
« on: August 19, 2014, 10:11:10 pm »
I have changed my e-mail password. When I changed it in aqua-mail, it refused the changes, with this message: "535 5.758 Error : Erreur à l'authentification, authentication failed. One time use of a plain text password will enable requested mechanism for user."

I don't know what to do now.

First:

The error message comes from the mail server. I have no idea what it means and what they want you to do.

Second, as a guess:

Try to use Manual account configuration in AquaMail (rather than pressing Next), press Next again.

You'll be looking at outgoing server settings.

Change "authorization" from "Automatic" to "SASL LOGIN". Press Next to try and validate.

@Paris Geek's suggestion also seems like a good one.

Thank you guys for your answers!  :D

@paris-geek: my country is canada and my e-mail provider is my own website.  There is no problem when I connect directly to my webmail interface. And no problem when I try with Outlook on my PC. The only problem I have is with aqua-mail on my tablet.

@Kostya-Vasilyev : I tried your tip, but it still sends me the same error message.
Maybe there is a problem with my smtp server or something like that? but it's odd because it was working fine until I changed the password in my webmail interface. I will try to contact a technician where my website is hosted, maybe something changed and they didn't tell me??

Anyway, even if it's still unsolved, thank you very much for taking time to answer me! ;) very kind of you.

@sug2h --

I only know a few things:

1 - Aqua sends server passwords exactly as entered. It does not randomly change a's to b's and 1's to 2's... etc.

2 - The error message comes from your mail provider's server. Aqua just shows it in the UI.

3 - It started after you changed the password on the server, using web mail

4 - I don't have any idea what "One time use of a plain text password will enable requested mechanism for user" means, but sounds like your mail provider wants you to do something. They should know a lot better what this "something" is than I'd be able to guess.
