AM with AOL/Verizon Mail
« on: November 26, 2025, 05:48:07 pm »
Been using AM with AOL/Verizon IMAP for years, without issue.  At the last auto schedule check at 03:00 this morning, the mail check failed on all my sub-accounts.  It's still working fine with all mail providers, except for my AOL/Verizon.  Been checking several times and still not logging in and/or sending or receiving mail.

I have to use the AOL app to send this message.  Nothing has changed on my side.

Thanks

Hello rdevoe99,

We’ve had numerous reports in the last days from AOL/Verizon/Yahoo users seeing “Incoming server login error” in Aqua Mail. It correlates with an issue on Yahoo/AOL’s IMAP side (rate‑limits/auth rejections). Their own app and some desktops keep working because they use a different API or a cached token, not standard IMAP.

Try the following:

Re‑add the account with OAuth2 Settings > Manage accounts > Add account > AOL/Verizon (or Yahoo) > Sign in. Complete the web sign‑in and grant access. This avoids password/app‑password issues and is what AOL/Yahoo prefer.

If you use manual setup: generate an app password in your AOL/Yahoo account security page and use it for both servers. IMAP: imap.aol.com, SSL/TLS, port 993 SMTP: smtp.aol.com, SSL/TLS, port 465 Username = full email address

If you still get errors after OAuth2 or an app password, it’s almost certainly the ongoing server issue. Keep using webmail/AOL app for urgent mail and try again later.

P.S. The issue should be resolved by AOL now.
