How to disable Account Expanded (when it has unread messages)

Please see the attached screenshot.

I have 9 email accounts.

When I receive new email, the account with new email has a number next to it (indicating the number of new emails) and that account is 'expanded'.

I don't need/want the account expanded as the number next to the account is sufficient to tell me that I have unread or new email.

And when I have so many email accounts, the accounts beneath the one with new/unread email will be off the bottom of the screen and out of view (notice how I cannot see the 9th account at all due to the 8th account being expanded.  When all accounts are not expanded, I can see them all easily and at a glance)

Is there a way to DISABLE the 'expand account for unread email' ?

Or can this please be added as a feature as this is really annoying - I can SEE there is new email, the NUMBER shows me this.
