high battery drain on lost network connection
« on: June 18, 2015, 02:04:06 pm »
Hi,
with recent updates a new problem has evolved. If I loose connection (i.e. connect to a wifi that I have to log into but dont or without cellular coverage) aqua-mail starts using ALOT of cpu cycles and hence drains the battery. It easily raises from using maybe 2% of my battery to using 10-15% (i usually get it killed a around that time).
This has never been a problem before but it is quite annoying.
I do not use imap push but have 5 imap accounts connected (checking every 15mins).

Is this a known problem and is there a setting that will fix this?

How come other Email apps like Maildroid do not suffer from the same problem?

Always love the "other apps" argument.

The issue has a randomness to it, and just because you're seeing it with app A and not app B does not mean it only ever happens with app A and never with app B.

Please do take a look at the FAQ, search the page for "mobile radio active" (or just "mobile") and enjoy the screenshots of this issue from: Google Play Services, Gmail, Facebook, Google+. There are plenty of screenshots from other apps on the Internet, easy to find.

The bug report can also be very educational:

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=165558

And this is a new bug someone opened just to track this in Marshmallow (yes, it's present there too):

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=190396

Has screenshots of Google Now, Facebook, Chrome, and TouchDown HD (a mail app, not that the type of app matters at all).
