Difficulty syncing
« on: December 08, 2012, 04:53:44 am »
Despite the message appearing, it was possible to downoad recent .3 version from a different site from Play, but program had +TREMENDOUS+ probs syncing with Yahoo -- don't know if it's fixed yet -- have only re-installed the app after see the message about the possible fix of the incompatibility prob.

2 days+ since most recent update to program and problem persists -- hard to say WHEN since most of my emails come from USA and I'm in New Zealand, so time differences need to be taken into account, but problem persists in same form -- difficullty signing in, and error message OCF12

what's this?

This is a server side issue.  The OCF12 is an error code reported by Yahoo's mail server, the app merely shows it in the UI.

This seems to be something that happens on and off, and when it does, no app will be able to get into the server:

It NEVER happens with the stock email app,

and I didn't and don't have it when using K-9

it NEVER happens when using my desktop PC --- Prior to Aqua Mail I had never seen the error before

so there must be something about Aqua Mail, which produces the error notification MANY times a day

at this stage that's the most parsimonious explanation -- Aqua Mail has a problem in communicating with the Yahoo server that other applications I'm using do not

I've never seen this error with my Yahoo account on any of my devices either.

What about those threads I linked to above? They're about people getting this error in Outlook, K-9 and other mail apps.

Searched for ERROR OCF12 and found this.

This just started happening on my Samsung Note 2 using Aqua Mail about 2 days ago. Its my yahoo email account (rogers.com) On and off throughout the day I get:

"NO LOGIN failure. Server Error - - Please try again after some time Error OCF12"

I understand it says server error but this hasn't happened in the months I've had the app until now. It also never happens on the stock Samsung email app.

Has anyone figured out whats causing this?

Hi,

Let me say it again:

This is a Yahoo server side issue. It needs to be fixed there (except nobody at Yahoo seems to give a damn about it, since 2007).

It's intermittent, as in, can come and go as it pleases.

I've seen it in stock Email on a Galaxy Nexus with 4.2.2.

Don't know if Samsung's built-in email reports these errors at all, or if they prefer to keep you in the dark about login failures (K-9 works this way: no login - no mail - no error notification - no indication if the app is checking your mail or not...).

The issue usually corrects itself on the next mail check, so you can just ignore the error notification or turn it off in the app's settings.
