Title: SMTP problems
Post by: valdez25 on April 01, 2013, 11:24:27 pm
Hi there,
 both my income and my outgoing server starts with mail ; instead of smtp...

when i set up the account both my income and outcome server seemed as working; but as i have written and wanted to sent i got the following message:

sender adress rejected : not owned by the user ...

I know it has something to do with the smtp server;  again it has to start with mail  instead of smtp  ... is there any hope?

further details: 465  ssl

ciao
( it works with the email app from android 4.2)

Can someone explain:

I  have tried K9 - guess everyone is familiar;
and again the outgoing server is mail. t....   ( do not use smtp.t....)

everything is fine;

so i come to the conclusion that A. Mail only works when you use smtp

i´m a bit disappointed  :'(

Please use the "manual" button on the first account setup screen, then enter whatever server name you need to use.

Think I saw your comment on Google Play about this...

Yes, you can enter any server name you like, it does not have to start with "smtp".

And if the server uses a self-signed SSL certificate, or one that's not accepted by Android because of its root CA, please use SSL (accept any) or STARTTLS (accept any) for Security type.
