Title: Sync-ing messages from AquaMail to the remote IMAP server?
Post by: TheHippoMan on October 21, 2025, 01:20:22 am
I'm running AquaMail 1.55.2 under Android 11.

I accidentally deleted 30 or 40 messages from one of my email accounts on the remote IMAP server.  I have a recent backup of AquaMail which still contains those email messages. I know how to restore those messages to that email account in AquaMail. But I'd like to also restore those messages to the IMAP server.

When I do a sync in AquaMail, it only syncs from the IMAP server to AquaMail, but after I do that restore in AquaMail, is there any way to sync that account **from** AquaMail **to** the remote IMAP server, so as to restore those 30 or 40 messages back to the IMAP server?

Thank you very much in advance for any thoughs, ideas, and suggestions.

Hello TheHippoMan,

Unfortunately, Aqua Mail cannot sync messages from the app back to the IMAP server. Syncing only works from the server to Aqua Mail. Restoring from a backup will make the messages visible locally in the app, but they won’t be uploaded to the server. To get them back on the server, you would need to forward or copy them manually to the same folder after the restore, or use an email client on a desktop that supports uploading local messages to an IMAP server.
