Title: What is the difference between the Sound box in Smart Folder or Acounts?

I am trying to get a different sould alert for each of my three mail addresses when they receive a new message.

There is a reference to Sound in the main settings that you get when on the Smart Folder line and in Message Notifications.

EDIT. Ah. I think that is for message notifications and not for incoming email.

Incoming email alerts are set from the individual accounts.
From the account list, long press on the account > special settings > message notifications
