Hi everyone,
i want to disable selectors present on the message list after each threat or message. I've browsed options, but i cannot find setting to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

What are "selectors"?
Contact images?
Checkboxes?
There are settings for both in app settings -> message list.

Hi,
I'm honestly not sure.
I'm blind and i'm using Talkback which is build-in Android screen reader. When swiping through message list after each message or thread Talkback announce selector. I have no idea what is displayed visually sorry about that.

Thanks for your answer. When using Talkback we are most of the time not exploring the screen, but rather using swipes to move focus from the next element to the other. In this case to move from message to message i need to swipe twice, because of this selector which is really inefficient. I'm aware, that pressing this selector will select message or thread, however I'm able to achieve the same result with double tapping and long pressing on the message itself. Due to that i want to ask if it will be possible to add an option to disable those selectors? Thanks

The selector is actually only on the left side of each message list item.
If you don't touch specifically on the left side - I expect it should not trigger. Can you try?

Hi,
When using Talkback we are not touching the screen in random places, but we are exploring in item after item using swipes to the right for the next element ant to the left for the previous one. It can be compared to moving with arrow keys on the computer. So when i want to move accessibility focus to the next message i'm not exploring my screen with my finger trying to find it but i'm simply swiping to the right. The problem is that after each message there is this selector which forces me to swipe twice. I understand, that it might be useful to have it in some situations, but for Talkback users is simply redundant we are able to achieve the same thing by double tapping and pressing on specific message.

Um, are you saying that swiping to the right moves the selection to the next message in the list which actually down not right? Or to its selection right now actually.
Sorry I don't know much about talkback - is that (swipe to right means find next view down to move to) one of its standard gestures?

Swiping to the right moves Talkback focus to the next item on the screen. In this case next item to the each message is this selector so to move Talkback focus from message to message you have to swipe once to move to the selector and the second time to move to the next message which isn't really efficient.

OK - got it. Will file it as an enhancement idea.

Thanks. It will be real efficiency boost for Talkback users.

Better late than never I guess.
Added in this version.

The new setting is in the "message list" section about 2/3 down, labeled "Selectors" / "Larger tap areas to select and star messages". Defaults to enabled which is how it is right now - but can be turned off.

Re: Not able to find the new setting. Would you please posr a screenshot showing it? Thx
It only shows when TalkBack is installed and enabled.

Many many thanks. You cannot even imagine how much of a difference it makes.

I would add 'the connection to TalkBack' in the description, even though this option is only visible when TalkBack is installed / activated.
Furthermore, I recommend enabling the option 'Selectors' automatically when AquaMail detects that TalkBack is installed and activated. This would be much easier to handle for people who are using/activating TalkBack on their device.

Re: Samsung s9+ without TalkBack (only Accessibility is enabled), and the option is visible.
Accessibility meaning - "explore by touch" and a voice tells you what you're touching?
What's the exact phone setting?
I should have worded that more carefully - we ask Android if "voice assisted touch exploration" is enabled, we don't look for TalkBack specifically, there could be other services providing the same feature.
The setting is enabled by default, if "touch exploration" is on - the "touch proxy areas" will be there, same as they've always been.

@Paris Geek
Thank you for the translations.
However, you provided them for "summary" strings (the longer explanation text, sub-title), what about the (shorter) title?
<string name="prefs_access_message_list_proxies">Selectors</string>

Thank you for translations.
Well I'm not sure how to word this - so it's immediately easy to understand.
At least the setting is there and if necessary we (our support) can point it out.
