Just now, I wanted to select several unread messages and mark them as read.
But I saw no "mark as read" in the menu after I'd selected the messages.
Is there no such function in AquaMail? How is that possible, as every mail program I've ever used has this function...?

Selected messages in a message list?

Sorry about that! I didn't realize that the envelope icon was a "mark as read" function - I thought it was a "read" function, or possibly "reply" or something else...
Adding it to the menu when items are selected WOULD be useful, tho' (unless that goes against your current UX philosophy).

'Long press' on that icon (on almost any icon) will pop up a brief description.

Re: Adding it to the menu when items are selected WOULD be useful
That panel is like "the menu" for *actions*. So it's already there.
And btw, the *menu* does have "mark read" - "mark *all* read" which can be useful sometimes too.

I read all of my unread messages via the Smart Folder. There, I can easy Mark as Read to clear them all.

Just a data point from another new user ...
I initially had the same question as the OP. I didn't understand that the envelope icon was the mark as read/unread action. I thought it would be in the overflow (3 dot) menu.
After learning the function of the envelope icon, I'm fine with the current implementation, and I don't have any suggestions for improvement.
