Post by: filnirv on February 18, 2018, 08:55:13 pm
Hi
On dark theme, background is white when I answer emails. Please fix it.

Many thanks for your great work.

App settings > Look and feel > Color theme > choose "Dark, including messages"

It's actually not *white*

---

You're running our "beta" version.

It has an all-new text editor with more formatting features (like numbered and bulletted lists, center and justify paragraph alignment) that users have been asking for.

This new text editor could not be made "truly dark" (as the old editor could be).

So we did the next best thing which was to use a "darkened white" = "light gray" as the background.

Still darker than the *pure white* used by the light themes and should be easier on the eyes.

You seriously removed the availability of a black background with white text from the compositor? Who would come up with such an idea? Sorry to be so frank, but this is a stupid. I don't need new composition features, the version before was fine. What I want is a black theme.

For me that means to stay with the previous release and not update again until this core feature (which is much more necessary than any new editing feature) has been re-implemented.

There is a special option to disable the new editor in build 1.14.x:

Settings > Composing and sending > disable "New message editor" (it's the 3rd item from the top)

No, this is a wrong interpretation of Kostya's explanation:

This new text editor could not be made "truly dark" (as the old editor could be).

Perfect! Thanks, mate!

Thanks for allowing us to keep the old editor.. Please don't remove this option - sorry to sound ungrateful, but the new editor just adds clutter to my screen, and doesn't even allow in-line replies...

I'm sending a quick email, not writing a book! :-)

We'll support it for at least as long as we support Android 4.0 - 4.4.

The new editor only runs on Android 5.0 and newer.

Hi Kostya, is there any plan to have the new editor support a dark theme, such that replies have the same dark background?

If not, what's the technical issue?  There seems like there's a proper who would like it.

No plans. Yes there is a technical issue.
