Please set up server side filtering in web mail. The FAQ has more info.

But I need this function (move e-mails with specific keywords /phrases in sender address, subject or e-mail text) in the e-mail client, since logging on to an e-mail server from a smartphone browser and making adjustments frequently is too time wasting and sometimes impossible.

How can I do this with AquaMail / Can you implement this? This is a basic function of almost all e-mail programs and I am sure I am not the only one who needs this!

Thanks!

What you're asking for are "rules functionality" to be added to AM.  That, to me, sounds like a huge undertaking.

AM is meant to be a window/portal into your emails which reside on the host server.

Message filtering (rules)
Sorry no such feature in the app.

I believe that message filtering is best done right on the mail server (service):

– Most mail services have supported it for a decade if not longer (try “settings” after logging into your account on the mail provider’s web site).

– One place to set things up, vs. in each mail app

– Consistent between all mail apps (mobile / desktop / etc.)

– No additional setup if you get a new phone

Gmail specific: if you’re going to “move” messages, please also turn on “archive (skip inbox)” for each rule (you’ll see this while creating it) — without it, Gmail will *copy* not *move* the filtered messages.

why is this a huge undertaking? it has to be done just once with a few lines of code such as "if keyword found in message/header etc. then move e-mail to folder x" and all your customers will profit from that... its a basic function of any e-mail client....

I'm sure that's how it *seems*

Then try it....

Don't be lazy if your e-mail-app should become the leading app and you will get very rich...:-)

Are you a coder? How do you know that it would -only- take a few lines to fix a problem only -you- have. With AM rules filtering is done on the server side (as you've been told) and not on the client. If AM doesn't do what you want, no one if forcing you to use it.

Personally I think you're way off base telling Kostya not to be lazy.

No need to be disrespectful.

You are disrespecting your paid clients by telling them over and over again that email filtering is not necessary in an email client or can be done by changing server settings!!!

Its like selling a car without seats and tell clients to buy their own!

Your recommendations to login to your email provider from a smartphone each time you want to change something and do changes on the server or sync spam folders is not only a waste of time and costs for you clients, it moreover simply dont work and its a lazy excuse not to implement it!

My recommendation is to delete this software and buy one that actually works and delivers what one can expect from an email client.

Cheers.

Yes that's my recommendation which I sincerely believe is a good one and that's why I "tell them over and over again" to use server based filtering.

No, it's more like selling a car without a garage and tell clients to buy their own!   8)

... ooh, and I'm really interested to know which email client(s) (for a mobile device) offers such a feature.

Thanks a lot.

There are "MailDroid" and "ProfiMail Go" for local filtering. And "Yahoo Mail" (for Yahoo Mail users only).

But local filtering does make sense in this special case: Using only one mail client. Nothing else.

In all other cases - using several devices or clients and/or web frontend - the server-side filtering is easier and better. Usually filtering on serveris to be preferred.

I can't find this "rules feature" (sort incoming messages into specific folders) in MailDroid's settings - only "notification rules" (notify about new messages on a time schedule).... mmh 🤔

Sorry, since I don't see advantages in local filtering, I did not test this feature in MailDroid myself. I just have read it several times, e.g.:

"Custom mail rules (like Outlook and Thunderbird)"

I read this also. However, I think the description is misleading, since there isn't any option in MailDroid's settings... at least I can't find it. Or this feature is only available with the pro version
--> available also in the free version

Maybe @teleworm could be able to bring some light in the darkness :)

Can't believe this thread is still going on.  It's not a feature in AM.  The author already said that it won't be.

You have a couple of choices, either to accept it and let it go or to move onto one of those other Android mail clients that perform this function to your liking.

Oh, that's right.............

Thank you. I found it even in the free version now. Will test it a few days.
