Title: Missing sound ("glurp") when I send an email
Post by: Swimmer on September 29, 2017, 08:56:04 am
Hello -- just upgraded to Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and my AquaMail is working fine but ... I cannot get the little splash/glurp/bubble noise when I sent an email. Sound mode is ON for the device, but in AquaMail, when I go to Settings/Send Notifications, I have checked Enable Notifications... and the 3rd listing, Sound,  says Sound/No Sound. When I tap on it, it takes me to the Storage files of the Samsung, but I haven't a clue where to go from there to change it so the bubble sound comes up.

Can anyone help?  Thank you.

That it takes you to Storage is wrong.

Please go into phone settings -> apps -> Menu (three dots) -> Reset defaults and you should get a prompt for "which app to use to pick the sound". I believe the "standard" sound picker should be listed as "media store".

Thank you.

I went to apps/menu/ and reset defaults.  There was no prompt for "which app to use to pick the sound."  Cannot figure out how to get there, and when I search for "Media store" nothing comes up.

Under the "Sounds and vibration" title in Settings,  I went to Notification Sounds, but only things listed are Default Notification Sound (for the Verizon thing), Messages notifications , and Email Notifications -- but it's ON, and the only other options are Notification sound (which goes to emulated storage) when I click on it.  Also, I don't want a sound when I receive an AquaMail, only when I send it.

More thoughts?
Thanks.

There is a setting in Aqua to set a sound for "send" notifications.

When you tap the setting, you're supposed to get the standard Android "sound picker" window. This is what it looks like (below, a Nexus 5, on other phones it's similar).

This "sound picker window" is not part of Aqua Mail. It's part of Android. I really can't say why it goes to the file system for you instead.

And this is the right settings section for send notifications:

Thank you.  I clearly don't know why either, but will try to find someone at Android or Samsung to help. If you or anyone has a suggestion as to whom to contact, I'd be most appreciative.

Also, what is the name of the sound I am seeking (the bubble "glurp" sound) within the file? Thank you.

Update:  I contacted Samsung and they reset all Settings.  Turns out, according to the service guy,
Lynn, the option was set to default to choose ringtones from file so it was not coming. As we reset Settings, the option poped up to select default Ringtones.

Whatever that means.  ANyway, thanks for your help -- you pointed me in the right direction.  Seems like dumb stuff on their part, but it's now fixed.

As stated before, AM does not come with a default sound. Just pick one that you like.

Thanks -- that's a surprise.  I always thought it was your trademark sound cause it was the default sound for my last versions.  (You should make it yours!)

The actual available sounds vary by Android version and the device's make / model. And then "send notifications" are actually off by default.
