I am new to AquaMail and am just trying to get it set up. I am connecting to Fastmail.
I have 3 sub folders within the Sent folder and when I send emails from a a specific identity, Fastmail automatically files them into the relevant subfolder. The problem is that at the top level Sent folder it shows the recipient but I cannot show the recipient in the sub folder, only me as the sender.
I am not sure if the problem is to do with Fastmail as, although the top level is called Sent, the sub folders are called Sent Items.subfolder name. However this is fixed in Fastmail and it is not possible to change it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Subfolders of Sent folder is not a common feature: Fastmail might be the only one that has it.
Aquamail shows recipients only in Sent folder, and, AFAIK, doesn't have an option to do that for any other folder.

Thanks for the reply.
That's a shame. I'm surprised that it isn't a common feature as it is very useful if you use multiple identities
-
Well, that is how e-mail has been designed so far. Some providers are trying to implement some new features, and some of those might eventually become standard, but I wouldn't hold my breath for this Fastmail's feature to become a standard extension for the IMAP protocol.

K9 manages to show the recipients name in sub folders
-
To Aqua Mail there is only one Sent folder. Not several or "sub" folders.
Re: K9 manages to show the recipients name in sub folders
I'm happy for them. Is it a deliberate feature or just happened to be so?
Besides, K9 - they ever work out Doze Mode or OAUTH for Gmail?
My point: when comparing "app X" vs. "app Z" you won't necessarily find that
"app X" has every single feature of "app Z" (and it operates exactly the same way) + some more, or the exact opposite ("app Z is a superset of app X").

OK, thanks.
So would it be worth my adding this as a feature request?

Are you looking for Aqua to file Sent messages into sub-folders?
Or show the sender's addresses for sent messages filed into sub-folders by Fastmail WebMail?
The former is unlikely to happen.
The latter should already be working - when viewing a message list of one of your Sent sub-folders, you should be getting a small "->" arrow and the recipient's address (taken from the TO header).
-
It's the latter.
It is not working for me. I am seeing:
Subject
Sender
First line of message
-
Are these messages "from" an "alias" (identity, additional address)?
-
Yes, I have the account email address which I do not use and 2 identities.
When I send the email, Fastmail automatically files them in the correct Sent Items sub folder.
-
Oh I see. There is a piece of code that detects sent messages in any folder - but it only looks at the account's main address, not at identities. I'll see if we can fix it.

Let's see if this works:

That's fixed it.
Thanks very much!

Thanks for the quick test :)
