When does the calendar sync on an exchange account?
I can see the calendar (in fact I can see my sub calendars too) no problem. However I have to manually sync from within calendar.
Is the exchange calendar sync on the same timescale as the Mail setting inside AquaMail, or are they on different sync?
As per other discussions here, with the additional data that Exchange uses on email, I have set email NOT to auto sync in BOTH Android at in AquaMail. I then have a normal Outlook account (the OAUTH method) syncing email in AquaMail.
In Android settings I have the calendar set to sync.
In AquaMail I have selected the calendars (hence why they show up, with the correct colours in the Calendar app)
I have tried switching email sync back ON in Android, leaving it OFF in AquaMail.
However I cannot get the calendar to auto-sync - I have to click sync.
Thoughts?

This is for a Hotmail / Outlook.com account.

Aqua will trigger a Calendar sync even time it checks Mail in an account.
In addition, Android may trigger it as well, using its own logic: 1 - when you edit an event, and there is something to sync *to* the server and 2 - at other times it deems appropriate.

So just to confirm, the only way to get AM to sync a specific calendar, is to sync email IN THAT SAME ACCOUNT?
Also, you cannot auto-sync JUST calendar, you have to do email and calendar?

Correct.
Aqua Mail is an email app with Calendar and Contacts "on the side", not the other way around.
You could turn off mail sync in the account (in Aqua Mail itself, not in phone settings -> accounts -> sync), but if you did that, it's not clear to me "who" would trigger server to client Calendar (or Contacts) sync.
