I am using the dark theme with also the messages being dark. Love it, so easy in the eyes. However, frequently I get messages from people telling me that my emails to them are unreadable. I am not an expert, but I suspect that this has to do with me using the dark theme, which includes too the screen in which one composes new emails. What can one do to prevent this from happening, to be certain that everybody can read my emails? Switch to the light theme? That would be a pity, a lot of strain on the eyes.

Can you please describe what is meant by 'unreadable'?
(e.g. black / dark fonts on a black / dark background)

It might not be the answer you are looking for, but if you send plain-text messages, those will be readable for sure.

For plain text - StR is right.
For formatted - when using the dark theme you should be careful about what text colors you use (if you do), e.g. a very light / gray / white color will be unreadable since the "standard" background color for emails is white.
Personally I'd try the "dark with white messages" theme which will make the editor window have white background as well.
