Title: Night mode in App-wide and account-specific settings is slightly different
Post by: StR on May 23, 2017, 04:18:36 pm
Kostya,

I've noticed that there is a difference in the options for the Night (and weekend) mode in the app-wide settings and in the "Special settings": In the general settings, it turns the sound and vibrations no matter what, but in the "Special settings" that's a separate option. I suspect this might be historical (the way how this options have developed, when more options were added to the night mode at a later point). I see that there could be a good reason why one might want to use the night (or weekend) mode, - say, to disable just Push during certain periods of time (I use that for one of my accounts, but I don't use Push on all of them), - while keeping notifications coming from the scheduled sync.

While it is not a big problem (one can do this "Special" for all the accounts separately, - I'd think that it would make sense to have the same separate option for the sound&vibrations at the app level for convenience (and to avoid confusions, - as you might remember a recent thread where a user was looking for how to disable sounds during the night mode). And you already have the code available, - so, hopefully it wouldn't be a big change.

@StR
Yes, this would be a reasonable enhancement.

Um there is a bit of a misunderstanding here.

Special Settings -> Night mode -> the "master switch" (top item) means "I want to specify night and weekend settings for this account specifically", and what those settings *are* is below.

The setting labeled "night mode / suppress sounds and vibration" means "I'm going to use certain night and weekend settings for this account specifically and those settings are - enable night mode for this account, with other details below".

Use case: app level night mode OFF, user wants night mode ON for this account only.

But it's equally valid to enable the "master switch" and then leave the "night mode" OFF which would mean "I'm going to use certain night and weekend settings for this account specifically and those settings are - DISABLE night mode".

Use case: app level night mode ON, user wants night mode OFF for this account only.

Re: "use night mode only to turn off push" (and other potential use cases) - you're right, I'll write it down.

I see. Yes, I was confused. Thank you for clarifying it!
I see now that if I turn of that switch, I wouldn't be able to manipulate other settings under there..
I guess, I was just finding what I was expecting (or wanted) to find there. ;)
I.e. what would be intuitive.

Actually, there are other use cases (as you noted), e.g. when I want to be notified, but not necessarily immediately. And you already have the option to "Adjust sync frequency" there.
