Title: Getting notifications on trash/archive folder
Post by: infernix on April 07, 2017, 05:01:41 pm
Hi,

When I delete or archive (either of both) an unread message on another IMAP client (e.g. Thunderbird), I get a notification on Aquamail. If the message is read, this does not happen. I really don't need notifications of archived/deleted messages - even if unread. But I can't seem to turn this off or work around it?

The message is "deleted" or "archived" from a incoming type folder? Say, inbox?

If so, then the source folder's unread count changes, and the notification needs to be updated to reflect the new number.

There should be no sound or vibration.

There should be no sound or vibration.

That's the issue. It's archived or deleted from inbox and it gives an audible notification. If i do it with multiple messages it will notify for each one.

App settings -> notifications -> make sure that "only once" is enabled.

Then there will be no sound (or vibration) when updating an already posted (visible) notification.

And please check the optional per-account notification overrides too, in case you'd set them: long press on the account -> special settings.

Using "Only once" would not help me as I do want to know when each new actual message comes in for inbox folders (i have 3 imap accounts); I just don't need notifications for archives and trash. I don't have account specific notifications set.

For now I've turned off push sync for the archive folder, that seems to work around the issue.

Unfortunately that's not enough. I just had it while deleting an unread message from Inbox in Thunderbird, and Aquamail on Android notifies me with a ringtone but then immediately the notification icon disappears. It's not trivial to reproduce either. I can't get it reproduced by just sending in a new email; it happens very randomly.
